Robbie Williams has invited Lily Allen to hunt UFOs with him. The 'Angels' singer has reportedly told friends he "sees a lot of himself" in Lily and wants to spend an evening with her when she is in Los Angeles, where he lives. Robbie hopes to take the 23-year-old singer - who has recently been criticised for her drunken antics - to his favourite restaurant STK before heading for a night of star gazing for spaceships. A friend of Robbie, 34, told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Robbie loves Los Angeles but the one thing he does miss is the British sense of humours and impudence, so Lily's attitude appeals to him. "He thought it would be nice to meet up while she's recording her album in town and got his people to call Lily's people to invite her for dinner at his favourite restaurant. "Rob likes to be a big brother figure to celebrities who seem to find themselves in the same position he has been - young and vulnerable and in the glare of the media. "And he feels that taking an interest in UFOs and the unknown is a good way of putting things in perspective, hence asking Lily to join him." Earlier this week, it was revealed Robbie has taken up camping in the hope of seeing an alien. A source close to the star said: "Robbie has been taking pals out to the woods for long weekends. He wants to live like a cowboy in a Western. He also has a fascination with UFOs and thinks he has more chance of seeing one away from Los Angeles' bright lights." Earlier this year, it was claimed Robbie was planning to splash out £2.5 million on an alien observatory after spending all his free time visiting Arizona's National Optical Astronomy Observatory, in Tucson. He has previously claimed to have been visited by extra-terrestrials on more than one occasion. Describing one close encounter of the third kind, he said: "I was lying on my sun lounger outside at night. Above me was a square thing that passed over my head slightly and shot off."

Robbie Williams offered £50,000 a minute for Norwegian concert

Robbie Williams has been offered £1.5 million to perform one concert, but is yet to decide whether to accept the offer, it was reported.

The singer, who is taking a break from his music career, has been asked to headline a festival in Sandness, Norway for just half an hour.

However Williams, who has said he has no plans to tour any time soon, is yet to agree to the request.

The 34-year-old has posted on his blog: "The more time I'm spending away from public life, the more I like it."

The singer has reportedly been in dispute with his record company EMI, since the firm was taken over by the private equity firm Terra Firm.

Williams' manager has said the singer has simply put plans for recording new material on hold while the firm is reorganising its internal structure.

Robbie, who lives in Los Angeles wrote on his website: "I might put the B-sides to the next album out in 2009 which means you won't be seeing a lot of me on stage."

According to reports, Williams has become a fan of the singer Lily Allen and has invited her to join his search for UFOs.

He has a strong interest paranormal phenomena, and recently took part in a documentary for BBC Radio 4, which saw him attend a UFO convention in Nevada.

British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS has disappointed fans by announcing he won't be touring anytime in the near future - and may never take to the stage again.


The Angels singer has become reclusive in recent years, holing himself up at his Los Angeles home in a bid to escape the glare of the world's media.


And despite being one of the U.K.'s most popular performers, the former Take That star isn't too keen to revive his career.


He writes in his internet blog, "The more time I'm spending away from public life, the more I like it.

"
The singer, who is reportedly close to considering leaving his $160 million (GBP80 million) deal with record label EMI due to its new owner, Terra Firma's decision to make 2,000 redundancies, is allegedly threatening to withhold the release of his next album if the issues aren't dealt with.


And Williams insists he won't be gracing any arena stages in the near future, writing in the blog, "There definitely won't be a tour anytime soon. (I'll) put an album out in 2009 which means you won't be seeing a lot of me on stage.

Robbie Williams and actress Ayda Field have split up after a series of rows over the singer not wanting to show his face on the LA party scene.

Insiders say Robbie tried to save the relationship with romantic trips to Europe and Mexico but it wasn't enough for Ayda.

A source said: "Rob's indifference about the LA scene annoyed her. He was content to stay in to eat junk food and watch DVDs while Ayda was yearning for some glam nights out to advance in her career and play the Hollywood schmoozing game."

Obviously Robbie doesn't need to make an effort with the Hollywood set as he's already a superstar (in Europe at least) so the poor lad remains unlucky in love.

Robbie Williams plans a whistle-stop visit to the UK to take a look at his hero Wee Willie Harris.

The 34-year-old singer is said to be flying into London for The Event gig at Southwark Park next Saturday. And on stage will be rock’n’roll veteran Wee Willie, 75.

The 5ft 2in singer, who has been going strong since the late 1950s, was a big pal of Robbie’s dad, club comic and singer Pete Conway. Robbie became a fan of Londoner Wee Willie while watching him in wild action with his brightly coloured hair and zany stage outfits when he was on the same bill as his dad.

Willie – who was immortalised on Ian Dury’s 1979 hit Reasons To Be Cheerful – dubs himself a “small ball of fire”.

A source said: “Robbie’s trying to clear his schedule to get there. He’d love to see Wee Willie again. He was a big influence.”

Also on the bill at the open-air gig are 70s soul band Heatwave and The Camden Cowboys with Lee Thompson of Madness.

For all the sneering that the recently hitched Mrs Wayne Rooney endured from the style police concerning the dress, the guests, the magazine exclusive and the groom, she managed to get one thing right. She booked Westlife to play at the wedding.

Not that Westlife are hip, cool and stylish. They patently are not. But by booking a private gig, Coleen has joined the long line of A-listers, billionaires and oligarchs who like nothing more than shelling out for a private performance by their favourite pop stars.
n the last 12 months alone, Amy Winehouse has played for Louis Vuitton in Paris and Roman Abramovich in Moscow. Whitney Houston cleared her pipes last month at an invitation-only black-tie ball in south London. Deep Purple took Gazprom's shilling and played for the then-future Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, at the Kremlin. Even Pete Doherty played his own sitting room in Burbage, Wiltshire, a few months ago to a devoted audience of two.

In the old days, private gigs were the remit of tribute bands and the has-been star down on his luck, with a mortgage to pay and various kids to support. But as record sales decline, touring costs rise and downloads are worth two a penny, an oligarch's knees-up or a footballer's wedding is now an acceptable way for any Grammy award-winning star to line their pockets.

They can earn a lot too. Rod Stewart and Robbie Williams come at £1m each. The Rolling Stones played a Texan billionaire's 60th birthday bash at the Hard Rock hotel in Las Vegas for a sweet £3.5m. Paul McCartney sang for American TV executive Wendy Whitworth for £500,000. Sting did Bill Gates's New York Supper Club for £250,000. Abramovich gave Winehouse £1m for an hour-long serenade in Moscow. Elton John, who won't step on to your Tuscan terrace before trousering a cool £1m, refers to all this as "giggle money" or "bank raids". With up to six private gigs a year under his belt, it is easy to see why he finds it so entertaining.

But it's not just the big boys who get booked and do the booking. While I was researching Pop Babylon, an exposé on the contemporary music business, it became apparent just how widespread the phenomenon is becoming.

The likes of the Sultan of Brunei, who lavished millions on his daughter's 18th birthday - hiring Janet Jackson and the All Saints (all of whom received a diamond-encrusted watch on top of their fee) - have made way for a different sort of audience. Since the explosion of cash to come out of Russia, it is much more likely to be some nameless tycoon on his yacht in the Mediterranean on the other end of the phone. Interestingly, the girl groups tend to be more popular than the boys, mainly because it's men who book them. Leather catsuit-clad Girls Aloud can make £200,000 for 20 minutes at a party, while the Pussycat Dolls get £500,000 per gig. Recently the Sugababes got £250,000 for seven songs, and 30 minutes' work at a Russian man's 21st in the south of France.

There is still some talent that won't get out of bed and on to a plane for large sums of money though. Coldplay were offered £500,000 to sing at a birthday party at Cliveden, but even the lure of a chopper to get them there and a large donation to their favourite charity wasn't enough to get them out of the studio. Annie Lennox is apparently the same.

For the most part, though, money talks. In these progressively less affluent times it makes sense for pop stars to take the dot.com dollar and the oligarch's roubles. Unlike touring, where everything down to the bacon sarnies eaten by the roadies cuts into the profits, the costs incurred by the band for a private gig are nil. They get chauffeured or jetted to the venue, they play to a digital audiotape, or (for more money) with a band, and then they leave. So after the agent has taken his 10% and the manager his 15%, all the cash goes into the star's back pocket. They might be expected to "mix and mingle" with their hosts for an hour or so after the gig, depending what terms have been negotiated in the contract - but that is not exactly exhausting work.

No wonder then that the market is expanding rapidly with indie acts and young pop stars offering themselves up to the highest bidder. Even old favourites such as the Human League and Rick Astley have dusted themselves off and are available for weddings and bar mitzvahs. So no matter how big or small your budget, there appears to be a band to suit you.

If money's really tight, there's always owngig.com, a website that came online last month where fans can bid for acts to play a private gig in their area. DARTS: TAYLOR AND PAL ROBBIE PLAN WORLD DOMINATION

Phil Taylor claimed his fourth PartyPoker.net Las Vegas Desert Classic title last night ... and then revealed he will celebrate by spending a week with Potteries pop star Robbie Williams.

Taylor, below, overcame James Wade 13-7 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino to win the Desert Classic, but insisted his trip to LA to visit fellow Vale fan Williams will not be purely leisure.

Instead, he will spend time preparing for for the Stan James World Matchplay, which begins in Blackpool on Sunday, July 20.


"Robbie invited me to stay with him in Los Angeles and I'm heading over to see him," said Taylor.

"Robbie's got a dartboard up at home, which he had sent from the UK, and I'll be practising while I'm there.

"The World Matchplay is a special event for me, I've won it eight times and I love the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, so I'll be going all out to get the trophy back."

Taylor, an eight-time World Matchplay champion, will open his title bid against Steve Beaton.

Liam is not happy with his new drummer

OASIS frontman LIAM GALLAGHER objected to the band's new drummer - because he used to perform with pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS.
Chris Sharrock has been playing the drums in different bands for more than 20 years, and most recently worked for the Gallagher brothers' former friend Williams.
He was Noel Gallagher's first choice to replace Oasis' longtime percussionist Zak Starkey, who quit the group in May (08) following a reported dispute with his bandmates.
Noel's decision to give the role to Sharrock was met with a hostile response from his brother Liam, but after a lot of persuading, the singer eventually agreed.
Noel says, "(I told Liam) I'm not playing in a band with some f**king kid who's gonna be marauding through the first-class lounge, throwing heroin everywhere.
"We need to get someone who's our f**king age, who's been on big tours. But Liam's still not happy about Chris Sharrock, because he's Robbie Williams' drummer."

As the new Mamma Mia! movie is released, celebrities are lining up to confess their love of the Swedish super troupers, finds Sarah Watson

Tom Hanks, producer of Mamma Mia! Tom says that it wasn't until he did the film that he realised how many Abba songs he knew: "Every single one of them."

Noel Gallagher of rock band Oasis: Noel admits to loving Abba. He says the way they sound is "incredible" and he says he "never understood the kitsch tag Abba have. People seem to look at them in an ironic way."

Robbie Williams, singer: Robbie says "Abba were amazing", and that "Dancing Queen is a majestic song."
