EMI was taken over by a finance firm last year and many of the artists signed to it at the time bitterly opposed the deal.

Macca and Radiohead have already walked while the management of ROBBIE WILLIAMS have expressed severe reservations about the new regime.

The formerly beardy pop knob even started a futile “strike” in protest.

Chris Martin, however, has kept a very tactical silence on the subject and where the band’s future lies.

HEROES hunk Santiago Cabrera has signed for pal Robbie Williams’ Soccer Aid charity match.

The Chilean star — Isaac Mendez in the US series — will be skippered by Gordon Ramsay in the Rest of the World team.

It’ll be bad news for the rival England celebs at Wembley on Sunday September 7 — as Santiago, 30, almost became a pro. He told TV Biz: “I had to decide between football or drama school.”

Celebrities pose with their pets for charity
Updated 15.39 Fri Aug 22 2008

Pets have starred alongside their famous owners in a calendar to raise money for animal charity PDSA.

In all, twelve 'pawtraits' were taken, capturing the special relationship between the stars and their four-legged friends which feature in the 2009 PDSA Pet Pawtraits Calendar.

The stars include award-winning soap actress Kym Ryder and comedian Johnny Vegas.

Scarlet Page, daughter of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, took the photographs and joins the illustrious line-up of former PDSA Pet Pawtraits photographers, including the late Lord Lichfield, Penny Lancaster Stewart and Jason Fraser.

Scarlet has photographed some of the biggest stars in the world, from Robbie Williams to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and in 2006, held an exhibition featuring portraits of celebrities with their children, which included Louise Redknapp, Sadie Frost and K T Tunstall.

Other celebrities to feature in the calendar include Strictly Come Dancing winner Alesha Dixon with her collie cross Roxy, chart-topper Sandi Thom with her cat Toots and ex-Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker with Blue Peter border collie Meg.

PDSA is the UK's leading veterinary charity and its work is funded entirely from public support. The sales from the calendar will go directly to helping provide free veterinary care for the sick and injured pets of people unable to afford veterinary fees.

COTTON PICKIN' ROBBIE

By Alice Walker & Katie Hind
24 August 2008

Watch out STEVE JONES, ladies' man ROBBIE WILLIAMS could be after your new squeeze.

The Robster, 34, has been calling telly babe FEARNE COTTON, 26, and asking her to visit him again in Los Angeles.

Fearne said: ""I speak to Robbie a lot. He talks about wanting me to go back to see him. We are friends and he is a great bloke. "I've been working in America for a bit and I really enjoyed it."" But we're pretty sure T4 hunk Steve, 32, has nothing to worry about. He's been dating Fearne for a few weeks since she split from JESSE JENKINS, 21.

Fearne is the latest in Steve's long and impressive list of conquests which also includes Hollywood babes HALLE BERRY and PAMELA ANDERSON plus ex-Emmerdale star AMY NUTTALL.

When second best ends up No 1

EVERY week, there are tears aplenty and heartfelt hugs as contestants’ dreams are shattered after being voted out. Judging by the red-eyed sobbing of the survivors as they say goodbye to their compatriot you might not imagine that the sole aim is to win - but it is.
'Shows like Pop Idol and Fame Academy provide a platform for the people involved, but their success in the long term depends on what they themselves choose to get out of the experience. Winning the public vote doesn't necessarily translate into success in the music industry, and it is after the show that people's strengths will come out. To succeed they'll need determination and hard work, as well as talent and mass market appeal, regardless of whether they win or lose the show. A good example is Robbie Williams, who wasn't tipped for success after Take That, but who has used his talent and drive to have more success than the rest of the band put together'.

ROBBIE Williams' guitarist Neil Taylor, from Bradford on Avon, has used his time away from touring the world to work on his own album.

Mr Taylor, 47, of Coppice Hill, has collaborated with renowned singer/songwriter Steve Torch to produce his first joint album called Bullets for Angels.

The guitarist, who has lived in Bradford for four years, has worked with Tina Turner, Tears For Fears and Van Morrison before joining Robbie in 2001 to work on the artist's Sing When You Are Winning album.

He was asked to join Robbie's band in 2002 and is recording and writing his own music in between performing with the ex-Take That star.

Mr Taylor, who grew up in Bristol, said: "The album is kind of a rock album. It is very guitar based."

Making his own album is a personal triumph although Mr Taylor classes being in Robbie's band as the highpoint of his career.

He said: "He is amazing to work with. For me it is a dream come true.

"When I first got the gig with Robbie I just couldn't believe it.

"I feel I am at the top of my tree, especially working with Robbie. For me he is the best."

Bullets For Angels is available to buy online for £8. It is available to order from his website www.silvermusic.tv or www.myspace.com/bulletsforangels.

Soccer Aid returns to ITV1
26 August 2008

World Cup legends and top celebrities go head-to-head in an England versus The Rest of The World football match, as Soccer Aid 2008, in aid of UNICEF and its partners, returns to ITV1.

With Ant and Dec hosting, this year’s event takes place live on the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium where the crowd will be treated to a unique opportunity to see football legends take to the pitch alongside their celebrity counterparts.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is stepping up to manage England with Bryan Robson assistant managing and his squad includes:

Football legends Jamie Redknapp, Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham and David Seaman and Kyran Bracken, Craig David, Angus Deayton, Tom Felton (Harry Potter actor) Ben Shephard, Gareth Gates, Danny Jones (Mcfly), Hugo Speer, Jamie Theakston, and Jonathan Wilkes.

Meanwhile, legendary Scot Kenny Dalglish ably assisted by Ian Rush will take charge of the Rest of the World and players hoping to make it into his starting line up include:

Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, Heroes actor Santiago Cabrera, Former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell, TV presenter Gethin Jones, comedian Patrick Kielty, rugby ace Kenny Logan, cricketer Brian Lara, Sex and the City actor Gilles Marini, Gordon Ramsay, Love Actually star Rodrigo Santoro and legends Jaap Stam, Franco Baresi, Peter Schmeichel, Romario, and Paulo Di Canio.

Gordon Ramsay returns to captain Rest of the World, but team England have a new skipper. Robbie Williams is passing on his captain’s armband, and the responsibility of deciding who will take his place is in the capable hands of manager Harry Redknapp.

As the originator of the Soccer Aid concept, Robbie is confident that again the match will be of huge benefit to UNICEF’s work around the world.

Robbie Williams says: "Being able to help so many people through Soccer Aid was one of the true highlights of my life. I’m gutted that this time round my knee isn’t up to it so unfortunately I’m out of the game. But I hope that everyone involved has the time of their life like I did, raises loads of money for UNICEF and that the best side wins.”

Tim Lovejoy and Louise Redknapp will bring all the action from the sidelines while pundits and special studio guests will deliver their live analysis of the beautiful game.

Each squad comprises eleven celebrities and five world cup greats. With less than a week for the players to train and bond before the big game, the pressure is on to get match fit and performance ready.

The brainchild of UNICEF ambassador Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes, Soccer Aid which was last held at Old Trafford in 2006, attracted a host of world class players and celebrities including Diego Maradona, David Ginola, Angus Deayton, Patrick Kielty, Gianfranco Zola, Alastair Campbell, Paul Gascoigne and Jamie Redknapp. The all star match raised an impressive £2.6 million for UNICEF’s work with partners for children around the world.

Last time round, England reigned victorious at Old Trafford. But on new turf with new teams, at the new Wembley Stadium, it’s a clean slate. With all players determined to score that winning goal and lift the prestigious Soccer Aid 2008 trophy, it’s anyone’s game.

Soccer Aid is raising funds for UNICEF’s health, education and protection work with vulnerable children all over the world. UNICEF helps children to survive and thrive in more than 190 countries worldwide, working with partners to provide emergency support and long-term development solutions. UNICEF is funded entirely by voluntary contributions.

Soccer Aid takes place on Sunday 7th September at Wembley Stadium.

For tickets to Soccer Aid 2008, go to ITV.com/socceraid.

For more information on how Soccer Aid will benefit UNICEF and its partners and how the public can get involved in football fundraising, visit unicef.org.uk/socceraid.

Noel Gallagher wants to beat spoof band Spinal Tap's record for drummers.

The Oasis guitarist jokingly told latest sticksman Chris Sharrock - who formerly performed with the band's arch rival Robbie Williams - not to get too comfortable behind the kit on the opening night of the band's world tour in Seattle, US, on Tuesday (26.08.08 ).

He jokingly compared Oasis to the comedy rock band - whose 1984 fictional documentary saw a rotating line-up of drummers, who all met untimely ends.

Noel said: "We're trying to break Spinal Tap's record."

Oasis are already onto the fourth drummer of their career. Chris follows original member Tony McCarroll, Alan White and Zak Starkey - the son of Beatles legend Ringo Starr.

Noel added that his joke may be lost on lead singer brother Liam, who thought that Spinal Tap were a real band.

Noel said: "He thought they were for real. We went to see them and I told him, 'You do know they are actors?' He said, 'I'm not f***ing having that', and walked off. He's never watched Spinal Tap since."

Oasis debuted a number of songs from their new album 'Dig Out Your Soul' on the opening night of the tour, including upcoming single 'The Shock of the Lightning' and 'To Be Where There's Life'.

They also treated fans to a selection of their classic hits, performing 'Wonderwall', 'Champagne Supernova' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger'.

Surprisingly Oasis closed the show with a cover version of Beatles classic 'I am the Walrus', which they played as their encore when they first shot to fame in 1994.

Exclusive: Shaggy to work with Britney Spears & Robbie Williams?

By Jody Thompson 29/08/2008

The Boombastic Mr Lover Lover man Shaggy has revealed that he wants to do a reggae duet with both Britney Spears and Robbie Williams.

Talking to us ahead of the release of his greatest hits album, out this week, the It Wasn't Me star said: "Imagine Britney Spears doing a hardcore dancehall record, have her doing the dutty wine! Or Robbie Williams doing an old classic rubabdub dub riddim or something like that, something unique. It can’t be just a regular collaboration.

He also said it was time for family to force Amy Winehouse into rehab for her own good - despite being a very public fan of jazz cigarettes himself.

Basic Instinct star Michael Douglas was treated for sex addiction in a £500-a-night Arizona clinic in a failed bid to save his marriage to wife Diandra.

He agreed to pay new wife Catherine Zeta Jones £3.4million if she catches him having sex with another woman.

Robbie Williams, Brat Pack actor Rob Lowe and Riverdance's Michael Flatley are also believed to have had treatment for sex addiction.

The tension is building as the days to Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes' brainchild, Soccer Aid, tick by.
But a new name has been added to the list of celebrities taking part in the charity football match, taking place at Wembley Stadium on September 7.

Hollyoaks star Chris Fountain has signed up to play alongside the likes of Craig David, Angus Deayton, McFly's Danny Jones, Jamie Theakston and Gareth Gates.

Speaking about his involvement in the match, Fountain told Digital Spy: "I had a dream last night that me and Gordon Ramsay actually had a fight on the pitch!

"That's how excited I am about the game, I'm even dreaming about it.

"In my dream Gordon kicked me and the ref was in the middle trying to break it up. I'm hoping this is not a premonition."

Fountain, who plays Justin in the Channel 4 soap, isn't the only one to be getting a teensy bit excited.

Life-long football fan Craig David, who missed out on the inaugural event in 2006 at Old Trafford, said: "Every kid who loves football would love to play on an amazing pitch against great players. It's incredible.

"I can see Wembley Stadium from where I live, and to have the opportunity to get that ball and blast it in the back of the net would be mad."

Soccer Aid, hosted by Ant and Dec, airs on ITV1 on Sunday, September 7.

Noel Gallagher Has a Blog.

Yes, that is a fact. A scary, eerie fact.

Insights on the blog have been plentiful. Currently touring the USA off the back of his band's feud with Jay-Z, Noel has been watching telly.

"Managed to catch that Barack Obama's speech to the Democratic rally," he wrote. "Impressive stuff. Spellbinding in fact. Wish he was one of ours. Why do Americans believe they're electing the president of THE WORLD though?"

Maybe you can go round his house for tea and scones, eh?

Noel, we learn, also hates having his photo taken by people who like his records.

"Some old lady approaches us to ask if we'd mind doing a 'quick picture' with the bride and groom!" he says, aghast. "'Erm… no, I don't think so' (who do they think we are? Robbie Williams?) 'Oh, go on, the bride will be heartbroken'. 'Good', I think to myself, and off we go to the venue."

What a nice man!

Elsewhere we lean that the band listen to Jimi hendrix and Hawkwind on the bus, and Noel has been able to buy fish and chips in the USA. Bloody hell.[/b]

Robbie Williams' 'Friends' Fear He's Becoming A Recluse

He hasn't left his home for weeks...

Friends of Robbie Williams have apparently voiced their concern that the pop star is turning into a recluse.

Williams, who now lives in Los Angeles, had been expected to release new material this year but is said to now be confined to his house.

It's not even clear whether he's still dating long-term girlfriend actress Ayda Field.

“I haven’t seen Robbie for ages. The last time I did, he was sporting an awful Robinson Crusoe style beard and looked as if he hadn’t had a bath in days,” a friend told the Daily Star.

Williams' last album, 2006's 'Rudebox', failed to achieve the commercial success of his previous releases after it was poorly received by critics.

CLUBS in LA are in crisis – Robbie Williams, official leader of the Brit-pack party posse, has gone AWOL.

We hear Robbie, 34, has become a Howard Hughes-style recluse, and is shunning the nightlife in favour of homelife.

Now pals within Robbie’s inner LA circle are becoming increasingly worried that the star won’t be coming back.

Rob has been dating sexy TV actress Ayda Field, 28, for 18 months. And it is thought he hasn’t left his £1million home in the Hollywood Hills for weeks.

Now there’s a growing concern the Robster may have lost the plot – well, socially that is.

One pal told us: “I haven’t seen Robbie for ages. The last time I did, he was sporting an awful Robinson Crusoe style beard and looked as if he hadn’t had a bath in days.” Robbie relocated to Hollywood shortly after the release of his album Rudebox in 2006.

Panned by critics, it was his first not to sell more than a million.

The singer turned his back on Britain and scampered off to LA where he was virtually unknown.

He quickly became a regular on the club scene and was often seen at the hippest places such as Hyde, Villa and Chateau Marmont.

But even the regulars there haven’t seen him in over a month.

When pals Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, both 32, were in town Robbie hardly saw them.

A source said: “We all know he’s an incredibly talented showman when he’s on the stage and on the hip LA club scene.

“But perhaps it’s just that Robbie is so in love with Ayda he hasn’t got time for clubs any more.”

With an album set for release next year, let’s hope Rob can make time for the recording studio.

.And, having photographed him for her debut photographic exhibition, Helena Christensen had developed something of a soft spot for Robbie Williams in 2003, saying: "I think he's definitely one of the funniest people I've ever met. He's really quick - I love that."

Robbie Williams shunning his old associates

Robbie Williams has been shunning his old associates and spending more time at home with girlfriend Ayda Field.
Robbie Williams shunning his old associates

"I haven't seen Robbie for ages," one pal told the Daily Star. "The last time I did, he was sporting an awful Robinson Crusoe style beard and looked as if he hadn't had a bath in days."

"We all know he's an incredibly talented showman when he's on the stage and on the hip US club scene. But perhaps it's just that Robbie is so in love with Ayda he hasn't got time for clubs any more."

Celebs join charity football match

Football legends and celebrities teamed up in a seven-goal match at Wembley Stadium to raise money for United Nations children's charity Unicef.

Watched by an estimated crowd of 45,000 cheering fans, 34 celebrities braved a chilly London evening to play in Socceraid's charity football match.

Two teams - England and Rest Of The World - made up of a mix of non-sporting celebrities and professional or ex-professional footballers, battled it out for 90 minutes on the famed football pitch.

England eventually got the better of Rest Of The World, pulling one goal ahead to clinch victory at 4-3.

The brainchild of singer Robbie Williams, the match hopes to raise over £1m to go towards health, education and medicine in 190 countries worldwide, Unicef said.

The event was hosted by Ant and Dec and Louise Redknapp also provided pitch-side commentary with England manager Harry Redknapp.

The referee was Pierluigi Collina, who also refereed at Socceraid in 2006.

In a game filled with some moments of brilliance and some slightly lacklustre play, some performances stood out above the rest, including a hat trick by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

Craig David was named Man of the Match for an energetic performance.

Speaking after the game Shearer said: "I thought it was a great game. It was done in the right way. People expect to be entertained and I think that's what they got."

Celebrities and legends combine for Robbie Williams' match

McFly's Danny Jones lived out a football dream last night (September Cool by setting up a goal for England football legend Alan Shearer at London's Wembley Stadium.

The guitarist provided the pin-point cross which allowed the former footballer to head home the goal which brought an England team, mixing former pros and celebrities, level with a Rest Of The World team.

The game, held for UNICEF's Soccer Aid at the home of English football, featured the likes of Craig David – who was voted man of the match – Gareth Gates and former Westlife singer Brian McFadden on the two teams.

Soccer Aid was created by Robbie Williams, who was forced out of the match due to a knee injury.

The game ended 4-3 in favour of England.
